The Beauty of Divine Timing
The Beauty of Divine Timing and the Lessons Learned in the Waiting
In so many spiritual and religious communities, we hear about divine timing. We hear that everything happens in God's time and according to God's plan. And yet, we spend so much of our lives trying to make things happen right now.
We have dreams and plans that we want to manifest with rapid speed. I know for myself that when I feel aligned with something, I want it to come to fruition right then and there. But so often, we don’t realize how the universe moves to bring these things into reality. Sometimes, it isn’t until after we have received what we’ve been praying so hard for that we can truly see how God and the universe had a hand in it all along.
I want to use my own journey as an example.
When my dad passed at the end of 2015, I had what some would call a spiritual awakening. My intuitive abilities rapidly came online. I spent a few years learning and developing my spiritual gifts, and I knew that I wanted to spend my life helping others connect with Spirit. I officially launched my business in August of 2019.
Since that time, I had been waiting for the right moment to leave my nine-to-five job and run my spiritual business full-time. I always felt that it was just around the corner and could happen at any moment. I often felt disheartened, wondering if I was doing something wrong because my dream never seemed to materialize.
That was until November 2024, when I finally left my job of eight and a half years to fully pursue my calling.
Only now can I begin to see all the ways Spirit guided me to this moment and the lessons I needed to learn in the waiting. These lessons helped me acquire the skills and foundation necessary to stand here today, sharing this journey with you.
Lessons Learned in the Waiting
-
Owning My Truth
In the waiting, I began to share publicly who I was and what I did—not just with strangers but with people in my workplace. I came out publicly on social media after years of living a double life. I learned the importance of owning who I am and showing up authentically in every space I occupy. The light within us cannot grow when we hide it in secret. -
Deepening Compassion and Empathy
Through trials and heartbreak—some so deep that no one will ever fully know—I learned compassion and empathy on a level I wouldn't have otherwise known. Spirit used those hard moments to prepare me to hold space for others navigating similar struggles. -
Understanding Love and Loss
I lost relationships that were deeply important to me. From this, I learned that loving myself sometimes means letting go of people along the way. Not everyone is meant to walk the entire journey with us. -
Honoring My Body
Being diagnosed with three different autoimmune illnesses taught me to love and honor my body—to listen to what it needs, to nurture it, and to appreciate the vessel that carries me through this life. -
Trusting the Universe’s Path
At the beginning of 2024, I felt like I was finally gaining momentum in my business. Our children had moved out, and for the first time since 1999, my husband and I had an empty nest. I truly believed this was my moment to step into full-time entrepreneurship. But life had other plans.
-
Unexpected resignations and position changes happened at my job.
-
I submitted documentation for a restructuring of my position, which was ultimately denied.
-
My husband was laid off when his company was bought out.
-
I lost my website, which I had spent five years creating.
Each of these setbacks held a lesson:
-
Losing my website taught me that sometimes we have to start over to build something even better.
-
The job restructuring process taught me to stand up for myself, advocate for what is right, and recognize my worth.
-
My husband’s job loss reminded me that sometimes God picks us up and places us on an entirely different path—one we didn’t even know existed.
-
Leaving my job taught me to choose myself, to trust in divine timing, and to believe that faith is more powerful than fear.

Being Exactly Where I Was Meant to Be
A month after I left my job, my grandson—who will be two in March—was diagnosed with cancer. He is currently undergoing his third round of chemotherapy at the Children’s Hospital. Because I chose to follow Spirit’s guidance, I’ve been able to spend time with him and support his parents in ways I never could have if I were still working my nine-to-five.This, more than anything, solidified my faith that God is always aware of us and our needs.
Trust in Divine Timing
If you are waiting for a dream or a prayer to become reality, don’t lose hope. The waiting is not wasted time—it is sacred preparation. Every challenge, setback, and delay is shaping you into the person who will be ready to receive and sustain what you desire. The lessons you are learning in this space are strengthening your resilience, deepening your understanding, and expanding your capacity to handle the blessings coming your way.
Often, it’s only in hindsight that we can truly see how the universe has guided us—sometimes to exactly what we wanted and, other times, to something even greater than we could have imagined. When doors don’t open immediately, it may be because there is something better waiting just beyond what you can currently see. The universe is always conspiring in your favor, aligning you with experiences, people, and opportunities that will best support your highest good.
Trust in divine timing, even when you can’t yet see it unfolding. Keep moving forward with faith, knowing that what is meant for you will never pass you by.
